Some Amazon devices and apps won’t display a separate page for you to enter your unique security code for Two-Step Verification. You will still need to enter the security code in addition to your password.

Two-Step Verification is a feature that adds an extra layer of security by asking you to enter a unique security code in addition to your password on computers and devices that you haven’t designated as trusted. If you have Two-Step Verification enabled on your account, you will need to enter an additional code in order to register a device.

If your device or app does not display a separate page for you to enter your unique security code when you attempt to register, you will receive an error message after you submit your password, even if the account password you entered was correct.

To log-in with Two-Step Verification on these devices and apps:

  1. Enter your sign in information and submit.
  2. You will receive an error message saying that your email and password combination are incorrect.
  3. You will then receive a security code through text message, or you can generate the code through the authenticator app.
  4. Add the security code to the end of your account password on the device or app you are attempting to register and submit again. For example, if your password is “abcdef” and the security code you receive is “12345”, then enter “abcdef12345” in the password field. You will then be signed into your Amazon account.

Note: You will not be able save a device as a trusted device if the Alternate Sign In is required.

If you are required to register your device or application using a temporary password, you will need to first attempt to register with your temporary password, then receive your Two-Step Verification code, and then add your Two-Step Verification code to the end of the temporary password you receive.
