Notepad++ is great for developers, but for IT folks it is annoying because you can’t choose a default Save As option.  And if you don’t select an extension, it will default to an unknown file type and cannot be recognized unless you go through some extra steps.

EditPad lite is a good alternative for those who want a simple text editor and who don’t need things like line numbers.
