Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS, 16.04 LTS, 17.10, 18.04 LTS
You can do this through the Terminal:
- Uninstall GIMP
sudo apt-get autoremove gimp gimp-plugin-registry
- Add the following PPA
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp sudo apt-get update
- Reinstall the latest GIMP
sudo apt-get install gimp
